The Long Road
Tragedy Is Life

Monday, September 22

So the big trip to Washington passed for the team... We lost miserably... 31 to 3... became Pacific Lutheran's Head Coach's 300th win... now we get to run a lot this week... we always run a lot but I have a feeling it will be a lot more this week... Oh well... I've decided that If they don't play me next week then I'm redshirting... For those of you who don't know what this means... a Redshirt practices the entire year with the team and does all the stuff they do but when game time comes around they don't even suit up for the game... you do this because each player is only allowed to play 4 years of college football and a redshirt year doesn't count as one of those years... this allows you to spend a year getting used to the system and getting better for the next four years... I think that's likely to happen for me now... so those of you planning to come down and see one of my football games... I'm prolly not gonna play this year.. but if you still wanna come down the company would be much appreciated... OK I'll talk to you all later

Saturday, September 20

So today... well yesterday now was National Talk Like A Pirate Day... Which being at a college full of not-so-sane types was widely celebrated... It's rather funny really because I remember celebrating this last year all alone thinking that nobody would ever catch on... even with such a widely known proponent such as Dave Barry it was not particularly sucessful last year so I naturally assumed it would be completely forgotten by this year... This Idea was increased by the knowledge that September 20 is Red Bull's Flugtag event which vastly overshadows a bunch of idiots talking funny... but reguardless It is big now and I suppose the entire purpose of this post was to say "wow... I didn't expect that"... goodnight all

So guess what... Apparantly I'm not good enough for travel squad... so I don't get to fly to washington with the rest of the football team... the worst thing is I'm better then every last one of them... and I proved that today... I was pissed... You ever been at that point where you're so pissed you're near tears?... It's a pretty intense moment... I've been there more then once... and you know what? EVERY TIME has been because of football... I put hours and hours of my life into this stinking sport... Today showed me some things about this team... things that I probably shouldn't have found out... cause if things get any worse I may not be playing this sport for very long... prolly be a better idea anyway.. let me focus on my homework... I know I'm not gonna quit really but... this happens... I've seriously contemplated this several times in my life... like every day of my junior year... many times I've been more serious about it too... the only problem is the stuff that kept me playing all those other times... my dad's support.. I know that still exists... but it's not here... it's 500 fricking miles north... it gets to come down once a month or so... love of my teamates used to keep me together too... fat chance with this team... there's no comradarie here... this is the team that you always hated because they would talk more trash then the smallest guy playing streetball in compton... there's no honor on this team... helping guys up is unheard of here... guys who get 15 yard person fouls are given a stern finger waggle not made to run til they pass out... Even the coaches will yell at each other... I think this is why Chapman looses all the time... I had a real cool little post planned out for today too... I'm too pissed right now... goodnight

Monday, September 15

So I find out today for sure that Blaine is indeed a VERY good dancer... I suspected as much just from the few things he's mentioned but I really didn't know for sure... about 20 minutes ago he comes home from an audition.... he didn't know he was going to an audition when he left the room... he thought he was going out to eat... the friend that was taking him surprised him with a bunch of equpment and a ride to one of the bigger dance studios down here... He was applying for Chicago... didn't have his resume... didn't have his own stuff... hadn't prepared anything... goes out and wins a major part.... turns.. it.. down.... He doesn't have the time... or the means of getting to this place... so this kid just did what a lot of people dream of doing... against his will... for no reason.... anyway that was interesting factoid of the day.... oh and yes I am alive... kinda

Tuesday, September 9

So I spent most of today in some form of a hospitol ranging from the campus wellness center to the ER... It first started out with nausea and stomach cramping last night... I went to the wellness center this morning after going to my morning class... I've been there before because I woke up one morning and I couldn't move my arm for about 5 minutes so I know this nurse.. She automatically noticed I was not doing well... She takes me back and pokes and prods a little.. You know how Doctors will poke you and say does this hurt.... I've never been able to tell what their looking for before but this time we found a distinct part of me that hurt intensely when she poked... she said that I needed to see a doctor right away and sent me to sunrise medical... when I got there I had a ton of paperwork to fill out and had to wait around forever to even see a doctor... when she came in she poked and prodded some more and found even more painful ways to do this then the earlier nurse had... She decided that I prolly didn't have apendacitis but I better go to the ER to have a surgen look at it... When I got to the ER I had the same paperwork to fill out and had to wait far longer to see the doc... they also had me pee in a cup and the like... when the surgen arrived he poked me in even more painful ways so that it even hurt me for him to pull his hand away... then told me "I'm going to run some tests but I think you have apendacitis and I think we'll have it removed today" Oh joy they're gonna remove an organ!!... well anyway after 4 hours of stressing over this and calling my parents and Krystal to inform them that I'm having major surgery... mixed with collection of blood samples and an xray... Another doctor comes in to inform me that he doesn't think I have apendacitis and that he's gonna send me home with some antibiotics and some vicadin... but if by chance this pain doesn't go completely away by the morning then I probably do in fact have apendacitis and I need to get surgery tomorrow... the kicker of all this is that it is now 11:30 and I still am in constant pain... with the vicadin... so either this guy is full of crap or I get to have surgery tomorrow... Yayyyyy........ goodnight all

In Perfect Orbit they have circled,
as the light of many worlds falls softly on their skin.
And days here pass like minutes,
one moment of brilliant daylight will shift into the next,
a flash of dark behind some distant lost moon,
and then it is over.
Like the pause before waking,
sleep is replaced by light, and life and hope.
It is the light of one far away sun that has beckoned them to leave,
and the hope of home that has lifted them from slumber.
The hope that; though the dark may come,
the sun also rises

Sunday, September 7

Do you want to know what I had to eat today... this is the list in it's entirety... at 9:30 AM I had some scrambled eggs... luckily I had some salt and pepper to make then taste halfway decent or I wouldn't have even had that... then at 11:30 PM I had the greatest meal of my life... peanut butter and Jelly... I'm not talking sandwich here... I took some peanut butter and put it in a bowl then added jelly and mixed it together... then ate it with a spoon... Before this point a major part of my life was been missing but I am now fulfilled... anyway We WON!!!! we kicked Claremont's butts... 14 to 17 win by a field goal with 9 seconds left... the ensuing kickoff was returned all the way t our 20 yard line before our kicker hit the guy and another guy tackled him... so really in essence our kicker completely won the game for us... I was in for one play... except not.. like half the team jumped off sides (qb called the play on first sound which we never do) so it never was an actual play... So if I end up being third string then I can still redshirt... it was real close there though... I was sitting there thinking "this is the only play I will get all season" I even knocked my guy flat on the ground... he proceeded to curse my mother... I proceeded to kick him in the face... just kidding... but guys in college seriously talk way more then in highschool... it's crazy what they'll say too... anyway It was a really fun game and now I'd like to sleep... but not before I fix Sarah's link as she has repeatedly requested... sorry sarah
